The Natural Resources Management Office provides sound, cost effective management of environmental resources. This is accomplished by developing and implementing management plans, regulations, and educational programs which preserve and protect Brevard County's natural resources while still providing for their utilization by the public. For current items or projects we are working on, check out our Hot Topics page.
The Natural Resources Management Office is composed of three sections, each specialized in an area of activity:
Environmental Management:Prepares innovative, comprehensive and scientifically-based environmental management plans that ensure the long-term conservation of Brevard’s natural communities while fostering local economic development, tourism and recreational opportunities for Brevard’s citizens and visitors.
Environmental Permitting:Preserves, protects and enhances Brevard’s natural resources by applying environmentally-sound standards for land development, with special consideration given to wetlands, floodplains, aquifer recharge areas, surface waters, coastal areas and other critical habitats. New Fees Effective April 1, 2007. Click Here for New Fee Schedule.
Environmental Remediation and Compliance:Protects and restores Brevard County’s groundwater and drinking water sources through proper management and disposal of hazardous materials, hazardous waste and petroleum products.
Stormwater Program:Reduces the impacts of stormwater runoff to surface waters through a comprehensive program of improvement projects, resource protection, and public involvement.
