Brevard County’s waterways are environmental, recreational, and economic resources that are critical to our community.  Access to these waters provides citizens opportunities including, but not limited to, power-boating, sailing, fishing, paddling, and nature viewing.

Florida is the #1 destination for marine recreation in the United States, with Brevard County currently supporting over 35,000 registered vessels and recreational expenditures on the Indian River Lagoon generating approximately $14 million annually in tax revenues.

The Brevard Marine Advisory Council and the Brevard County Natural Resources Management Office work together to highlight the events associated with the Space Coast Boating and Waterfest.  However, neither the Brevard Marine Advisory Council nor the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners and associated County Offices and Departments, are responsible for the activities, materials and/or content encountered at these events.

Brevard County's Boating and Waterways Program works to align the needs and resources of the County's extensive waterways.  The program ensures the safety and enjoyment of the general public and is working to find a balance between the environmental, recreational, and commercial needs of the region, now and into the future.

The Brevard County Marine Advisory Council provides advice and guidance to the Board of County Commissioners.  The scope of work includes all marine related issues to ensure a well maintained, safe, healthy and friendly marine environment for the residents and visiting users of our marine resources.

Coast Guard Auxiliary District Seven, Eastern Region, Flotilla 17-6 is located in Central Brevard County and has an area of responsibility (AOR) from the 528 Bridge to the Pineda Causeway.   Flotilla 17-6 routinely presents public safety classes, performs courtesy vessel safety checks, visits marine dealers, performs safety patrols afloat and ashore, augments active duty personnel where needed, and supports other missions as directed by the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Organized in 1956, Banana River Sail and Power Squadron is a non profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in seamanship, navigation and related subjects. Our members are boating families who contribute to their communities by promoting safe boating through education. We enjoy participating with our fellow members on the water and in the classroom. Banana River Sail and Power Squadron has some 150 members serving the South Brevard Area.
